Last post in 2011.

Last days of 2011.

I just want to thank you all for any kind of connection we've had in 2011. It has been a great year for me, and I had quite a production the last weeks before Christmas. Below you see most of the pot coasters I made. I think two or three are missing here.

I also made some knittingneedle and hook holders, and they became a mistery for some of those who recieved one. I didn't include written words on how to use them and my Mum and Moster didn't understand what it was. We have had some good laughs about that later on.

They are made of very fine leather, soft as glove-leather. Originally ment to use on buttons. Inside I lined them with fabric and the knitted plaits.

I added a tapestry needle and a measure for knittingneedles. I wonder what the two of them thought it to be. I'll have to ask them some time.
Below you can see how it looks when in use. A friend of mine saw them before Christmas and she immediately said " what luxury". That was because of the softness of the leather.

I've had a nice Christmas and handyman and I are going to celebrate the new year alone. Because we want it that way. Sandra has been here for some days now but will return home tomorrow. She got her own laptop for Christmas and, I expect the question on how to make her own blog will turn up sooner or later.
Since this is my last post this year I want to wish you all a Happy new year!
Take care when using the fireworks!!

Finally some paint on my fingers again!

Making my own tags.

I've had some good days now wrapping gifts. I ended up making my own tags this year and I had lots of fun doing so.
They are easy to make out of empty toiletpaper tubes. I have this little tool to cut out my tags and then I gessoed them before painting and writing.
The hardest thing was to get the "eye" sentered, but they are quite charming with the "eye" a bit out of center too.
To make the tags I start to cut the tubes and water (spray) them to get them flat. Then they need to dry before cutting and painting.

Now I want to share with you some of my favorite Christmas drawings/ paintings ever. They are created by a Norwegian named Anders Midthun.
These images are so "Christmasy" to me and I never get bored looking at them. Do you have any favorites for Christmas?
I hope you all are doing well and that you're not too stressed.

Finally I wish you all a Merry Christmas or should I say Happy Christmas or even Happy holidays. I've been reading that there are some discussions on how to put the greetings. In any case mine are heartfelt and well ment.
Take good care!!

Life is good!

I'm all done and ready for Christmas.

Yesterday one of my good friends came over and gave me this huge bunch of tulips. I love tulips and was soooooo glad to recieve them.
For the first time in my life as an adult I've had a calm Advent, and now over a week before Christmas eve I'm done!! It feels gooood!

How are you doing? Are you ready too, or nearly.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Nearly done!

Just a little post to say hello.

I'm still here, and today I'll pop in and say hello. I'm one day ahead of my flow sheet and proud. Yesterday I finally cleaned up my sewing studio and felt like loosing 10 kg's. Today I'm doing my tiny new studio and then it's just small things remaining.
Coming weekend I'll probably decorate for Christmas, and coming week I have some baking to do. After that I shall enjoy wrapping presents and handmake the tags. I'm nearly done with the handmade gifts too, so this season is a good one.
Below you see mine and Sandras sewingspace. I'm standing in the dooropening.

Next one is better to see the space.

And this is what's behind my back when ssewing. I own far too much and have decided to give away some of it. My nieces need something to practice on, so I hope they will come and take away something.

Next picture shows the tiny room with my cutting table, as you see it's loaded and I promise it's very tidy now.

Here you see the angles of the room.

And a small window.

That's all for today, I'm off for some more job.
Have a nice weekend everyone and thanks for visiting.

Small things to give away.

I had a little spare time yesterday.

The whole thing started with the squared one. I wanted to try if I could knit this design. Yes I could, but it was too slow to make for Christmas besides a lot of people in my family do knit themselves. Not that many crocheting though. So I chose to crochet instead and it's much faster too. These are not potholders but hot pot coasters. You know to protect the bench or table from hot pots.
I've chosen to make them colourful just to brighten any grey day. I'm planning to give one to each family in my family,as a small gift. Perhaps that will inspire the girls to start crocheting. That would be fun.

Today I'm going to polish all the doorhandles. Every door in our house have brass handles, old real brass. There are quite a few to do so that will be my job today. Tomorrow will be the day for the silvervare. Oh, the forks are difficult to polish.
The roast has to be put into sour too if I'm going to get it ready for Christmas. Baking will be done later on. Coming week will be all about cleaning/washing.
And this year my mom is coming home for Christmas so I'll have to pay her a visit or two too.
Because of my mom we are all going to celebrate Christmas together this year and that mean that we will be more than 30 persons at Christmaseve. Amongst them are 11 great grandchildren.

I'm off to polish, have a nice weekend.

In progress.

A little progress in my work.

I've been working on a larger piece lately. It took me almost a week to sew the outlines and all of them are not done yet. I'll have to wait and see when the colours are done. My photo shows how far I've come and now I'm stuck.

The lower part has become a nut to me. I had it all so clear, but now I'll have to rethink. I don't want to mess it up. I'll have to put it aside in any case, Christmas is calling. During the preparations I shall chew on it.

I have this good friend who is so supportive, she is cheering at me all the time. Otherwise I probably would have thrown this piece away several days ago.
That's about it for today. Enjoy your Advent time.
